M E T R O M O R T A L E S

Este cómic hace parte de una publicación colectiva de historias (reales y ficticias) sobre el metro de Ciudad de México. A cada artista le correspondió una estación en específico, en mi caso fue Metro Portales (Línea Azul).

Para crear el cómic primero busqué leyendas urbanas alrededor de esta estación. Encontré la historia real de una señora que mató a su esposo maltratador: era tamalera y cuenta la leyenda que lo cocinó. Decidí partir de esta noticia para crear la historia ficticia que cuento en este pequeño cómic. Sin caer en el amarillismo de la trágica historia, sólo hago un pequeño guiño para quien conozca la leyenda de “La tamalera de la Portales”.

This comic is part of a collective publication of stories (real and fictional) about Mexico City subway. Each artist had a specific station, in my case it was Metro Portales (Blue Line).

To create the comic I first searched for urban legends around this station. I found the true story of a lady who killed her abusive husband: she was a tamale maker and legend has it that she cooked him. I decided to start from this news to create the fictional story that I tell in this little comic. Without falling into the sensationalism of the tragic story, I only wink for those who know the legend of “La tamalera de la Portales”.
